Marissa Mundy, LPC, CPCS

Marissa serves as the Clinical Director at Restorative Counseling Services and also offers Clinical Supervision for other counselors seeking to obtain licensure. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor and received her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University in 2012. Upon graduation, she trained and worked at the Anxiety & Stress Management Institute in Atlanta until she founded Restorative Counseling Services in 2015. Marissa creates a safe and nurturing environment for all of her clients and the counselors she supervises, increasing self-awareness and personal development during each session. Clients appreciate her warm and empathetic nature paired with her direct and clear approach.

Marissa is our resident couples and family therapist and is passionate about helping her clients’ relationships become healthy and strong. She works with couples experiencing high levels of conflict, as well as couples who find it hard to speak openly with their partner and have fallen into a pattern of avoidance. She uses an approach called Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) to help couples increase their attachment bond, reduce conflict, increase intimacy, and repair relational wounds (including affairs and other betrayals, addictions, and trauma). For family work, Marissa applies the same principles of EFT to help all family members thrive. She regularly works with families with adult children who seek to create a healthier dynamic.

New clients who wish to work with Marissa should know that she offers two formats for couples & family counseling: traditional 50-minute sessions and intensives. While some concerns are best treated by meeting weekly or biweekly for sessions, other forms of relational distress are better addressed in a different context. Intensives provide a space to work on your relationship with Marissa for several days in a row, for several hours a day, uninterrupted. During this time a couple or family is Marissa’s sole focus and the lack of time constraints allow for deep work to be done in a relatively short amount of time. Although she now exclusively works with couples and families, Marissa has over 13 years of experience treating individuals as well. She is well versed in the treatment of mood disorders, personality disorders, and anxiety disorders. She has extensive training in Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Exposure & Response Prevention. Her areas of specialty include Major Depressive Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, OCD, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety, and Phobias. Marissa utilizes only evidence-based therapies to develop comprehensive and personalized counseling plans for each of her clients based on their presenting concerns and goals.
